Definition of an idiot

The term “idiot” is not a nice word to say to anyone. This term is usually used to refer to a person considered foolish, stupid, or slow.

Everybody has their own unique skills and knowledge base. Some people are gifted in art, some in technology, and others in other fields as well. It’s important to understand that people are different and they have different strengths and weaknesses. Intelligence is not the sole measurement of a person’s worth. So, there’s no reason to belittle others’ intelligence and capacity.

Calling someone an idiot is offensive and insulting. The person can lose their confidence and can question their personal self worth. Referring to someone as an idiot can be okay if done in a consensual loving or joking manner but never with an intent to insult.

Stop equating a person’s intelligence with their worth. Treat everyone with respect and kindness no matter what their IQ levels are.

    1. Hi Ginny, don’t listen to the person who called you stupid, it says a lot more about them than it does about you. If something happened in a school situation, where an adult violated school policy you could report the incident to the school. You may want to distance yourself from this person or have a good comeback ready for next time they disrespect you.

      Good luck, Bryn
