How to respond when you are told you need to lose weight

by 14 Comments

Great comebacks if you are told to lose weight

Nobody wants to hear in front of family or friends, “You need to lose weight!” Being told in an inconsiderate way that you are overweight from your partner or family can be humiliating.

If they told you to shed pounds out of genuine concern for your health, it may be something to consider. If your boyfriend suggests that you should go on diet because you would look better, all I can say is you might look better with a new boyfriend.

Here are a few snappy comebacks that you might find useful next time someone mentions your weight. Of course, it will depend on who makes the comment, and how they say it, but go ahead, tell us what you think is the best comeback.

It’s more if I’m happy and I’m confident and feeling good, that’s always been my thing. And more so now, since having a family – I don’t seek out any other acceptance. – Kelly Clarkson

Keep up the great attitude, Kelly!

They didn’t bother me at all. But I got a lot of flak for it from people in the industry. They’d say, ‘You should lose a few pounds,’ or ‘You should do this or do that.’ It finally got to the point that I was like, ‘This is who I am. I’m shaped like this,’ ” Lopez said. “Everybody I grew up with looked like that, and they were all beautiful to me. I didn’t see anything wrong with it. I still don’t!
