What to say to someone who shares too much information

by Leave a Comment

Clever replies when someone SHARES TOO MUCH INFORMATION

It can be a little shocking when someone you don’t know very well divulges too much personal information. I don’t know about you, but I am not interested in hearing about the gritty details of someone’s divorce or every problem their kid is having.

Some folks have their Facebook status confused with their diary, broadcasting their most personal thoughts. Not every thought or situation needs to be shared.

Often, the more you know about some folks the less you like them. When they share every political thought online, rant on about their personal views you see that they may not be who you thought they were.

A mom blogger was recently in the news because her daughter found out she had been sharing very personal stories about her since she was a baby on her mom blog. The daughter asked her mother respect her privacy, and to stop posting personal things about her online. The mom refused to respect her daughter’s wishes, probably because she had too much to gain from the situation and generated most of her income from her blog.

When someone overshares you are under no obligation to reciprocate and share anything personal about yourself in return. Acknowledge the person’s feelings, with kindness if you can, and then shift the conversation in another direction.

Here are a few things you can say to someone who overshares, to let the person know you are not interested in hearing the intricate details of their life.

  1. Don’t share your problems with others. 20 % don’t care and 80% of the people are glad you have them.
  2. Everything doesn’t need to be talked about.
  3. The less you reveal the more people can wonder.
  4. Thanks for over sharing the disgusting details of your medical procedures on Facebook
  5. I’m sorry the concept of overshare eludes you!
  6. OK, I didn’t need to know that.
  7. Too much information! Some personal thoughts are best left unsaid.
  8. Be careful who you share your information with. Only a few really care and the rest only listen because they want something to gossip about.
  9. Staying low key will solve half your problems.
  10. Life is much easier when you’re not complaining, worrying or stressing about drama.

What to say to someone going through a break up

Kind things to say to someone going through a break up

When you find out that your friend has split up with their boyfriend or girlfriend your reaction is going to depend on whether or not you liked their boo.

It can be painful to watch a friend date or hook up with someone who is not good for them, treats them like rubbish and is an all-round jerk. If it has been going on for a while, hopefully, this is the final time and your friend will smarten up and move on to a better situation.

You have to be careful what you say to someone because as much as they complain about the person they are dating, they will turn around and defend them and it could permanently affect your relationship. It’s kind of like your family, you may complain about them but it pisses you off when other people do.

Go ahead and vote on what you think the best thing to say is when someone has split up with a friend.

  1. Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because that asshole is going to be someone else’s problem.
  2. Sometimes a knight in shining armor turns out to be a loser in tin foil
  3. Relationships are a lot like algebra. Sometimes you look at your ex and wondered why?
  4. If life can remove someone you never dreamed of losing, it can replace them with someone you never dreamed of having.
  5. If you can love the wrong person that much, imagine how much you can love the right one
  6. Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you
  7. Getting back with your ex is like taking a shower and putting your dirty underwear back on.
  8. There is no reason to stay if there is a good reason to go.
  9. You need to forget what you feel and remember what you deserve.
  10. The first step to getting what you want is having the courage to get rid f what you don’t want.

Top Ten Comebacks for Controlling People

by 6 Comments

How to respond to someone who is being CONTROLLING

People who try to control your every move do so because they are insecure. You may be with a controlling person if they constantly criticize everything you do, isolate you from your friends and family, and try to change you while squashing your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I knew a flight attendant whose boyfriend, Dazza, would call her twenty times a day wanting to know her every move. Isabelle had to call him before going out because he wanted to know where she was going. If she didn’t tell him beforehand, he would get very angry. After a couple of years of his controlling behaviour, she received a phone call from another woman, who said that she thought they had the same boyfriend.

Isabelle didn’t think it could be true. She went to the woman’s house, and there was a picture, taken on vacation, of her boyfriend and this woman cuddled up. There were messages from him on her answering machine saying how much he loved her.

The crazy thing is Dazza was just as controlling with his second girlfriend as he was with Isabelle.

Here are some snappy comebacks to let the controlling person know that you are not interested in being controlled or told what to do.

What to say to a hypocrite

by 1 Comment

What to saying when someone is being a hypocrite

Do you have a hypocrite in your life, someone who conveniently forgets their own faults while happily pointing out yours?

Hypocrites have one set of standards for themselves and different standards for you. A high school girl, Nelly, continually badmouthed other people, stirring up drama within her class. If anyone else talked badly about someone, Nelly told them off and said it was wrong to talk about people. The weird thing was she couldn’t see that she was the worst offender.

These snappy comebacks will let the hypocrite in your life know that you are on to them and are not interested in putting up with their double standard.

Top Ten Comebacks for people who Interfere in your life

by 8 Comments

Check out our great things to say to someone who interferes in your life. | www.ishouldhavesaid.net

If you have ever had someone meddle in your life you know how frustrating it can be! Interfering parents and friends can cause serious problems in your life and relationships.

Clearly, interfering people have boundary issues and they need to learn to be respectful and back off instead of inserting their nose in other people’s business.

Sabrina’s mother, Glenda, wasn’t married and didn’t have a lot of intimate relationships. Glenda would overstep her bounds, even though she didn’t have a close relationship with her daughter.

Glenda didn’t agree with one of Sandra’s parenting decisions that were truly none of her business. She called an intervention behind Sabrina’s back with her husband and mother in law. Glenda seemed to think that it was OK for her to interfere in a marriage and a family decision when it was none of her damn business. When Sandra found out, she was furious and had enough of someone interfering in her life, she decided she needed to put a lot of distance between herself and her mother.

Here are some snappy comebacks to let the meddler know you they need to stop interfering immediately.

What to say to someone who interferes in your life

  1. Maybe you should get your own life and stop interfering in mine.
  2. Next time I need an unsolicited and uninformed opinion I will know where to go.
  3. If you’re not feeding me, F&#%ing me or putting the roof over my head, it’s really none of your business.
  4. Remember when I asked for your opinion? Me neither.
  5. My life, my mistakes, my choices. Not your business!
  6. My business isn’t your business. Unless you’re my thong, don’t be up my ass.
  7. If you are going to have opinions about my life than I can assume you will be paying some of my bills.
  8. You must have everything in your life figured out because you obviously have time to meddle in mine.
  9. It’s never too late to shut up and mind your own business.
  10. You can tell whose miserable in their own life because they have nothing better to do than meddle in yours!
